Fat harvesting
Gentle liposuction removes fat from donor areas you and Dr. Khan agree on, commonly the abdomen, flanks, thighs or back. The donor area is contoured at the same time.
Model Breast · Fat transfer
A modest, natural increase in breast volume using fat from somewhere you’d rather not have it. No implant, two areas improved in one procedure, and for appropriate candidates it can be done awake.
About the procedure
Fat transfer breast augmentation enhances breast size and shape with purified fat harvested from your own body by liposuction. It is a two-part procedure: the fat is removed from an area such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs, processed to concentrate the healthiest cells, then placed into the breasts in many small passes so as much of it as possible survives. The donor area is contoured in the process.
The result is subtle to moderate, soft and entirely your own tissue. It is not a substitute for implants when a large increase is the goal, and Dr. Khan is direct about that. For patients who want a natural-looking step up in fullness, better cleavage or correction of mild asymmetry, and who have fat to spare, it can be the right fit.
The Empowered approach
She plans for proportion rather than maximum size. At consultation she assesses how much donor fat is realistically available, the quality of your breast skin and tissue, and what increase is achievable in one session, and she tells you plainly if implants would serve your goal better.
Her technique focuses on the two things that drive fat survival: careful, low-trauma harvesting and meticulous placement in small amounts across multiple layers. Compression garments support the donor sites during early healing, and established surgical patients have a direct way to reach her after hours.
Dr. Khan performs fat transfer breast augmentation awake under local anesthesia for appropriate candidates. The tumescent technique numbs the donor and breast areas so you remain comfortable and can communicate with her during the procedure, and you avoid general anesthesia and its recovery.
Whether the awake approach suits you depends on the number of donor areas, the volume being harvested, your medical history and your comfort. Dr. Khan reviews the anesthesia plan with you at consultation.

Model What to expect
About an hour with Dr. Khan to review your goals, assess available donor fat and breast anatomy, compare fat transfer with implants, discuss the awake option and set realistic expectations for volume.
A written plan covering donor areas, the expected volume, the anesthesia approach and pre-operative instructions. Pricing is reviewed with your plan.
Fat is harvested by liposuction, purified and placed into the breasts through small entry points. You go home the same day in a compression garment for the donor areas and a soft, supportive bra.
The donor areas are sore and bruised for the first week or two; the breasts are swollen and tender. Follow-up visits track healing and fat survival, and established surgical patients have a direct way to reach Dr. Khan after hours.
Recovery
Expect bruising and soreness at the donor sites, supported by a compression garment, and swelling and tenderness in the breasts. Many patients return to desk work within about a week. Avoid pressure on the breasts, including sleeping face down and tight bras, during early healing to protect the newly placed fat.
Breasts look fuller than the final result at first. Some of the transferred fat is reabsorbed over the first few months as the rest establishes its blood supply; the volume that remains after that period is stable and behaves like your own fat. Exercise returns gradually as Dr. Khan clears it.

FAQ
Every answer here is general information. Your own plan, risks and recovery are discussed in person at your consultation.
A modest, natural increase per session, generally less than implants provide. The achievable amount depends on your chest width, existing breast tissue, skin elasticity and how much donor fat you have. Some patients plan a second session after healing for additional fullness. Dr. Khan evaluates your anatomy at consultation and gives you a realistic picture before you decide.
Fat transfer uses your own tissue, adds no device, feels like natural breast and contours the donor area at the same time, but the increase is modest and requires adequate donor fat. Implants deliver a larger, more predictable increase and work for lean patients, but carry device-related considerations such as capsular contracture, rupture and eventual replacement. Dr. Khan helps you choose based on the size change you want, your body composition and your preferences.
For appropriate candidates, yes. Dr. Khan performs it awake under local anesthesia using the tumescent technique, which numbs the donor and breast areas while you remain comfortable and able to communicate. Whether it fits your plan depends on how many donor areas are involved, how much fat is harvested and your medical history. The anesthesia plan is reviewed at consultation.
Fat that establishes a blood supply in the first months becomes part of your breast tissue and behaves like your own fat, gaining or losing volume with your weight. Some of what is placed is reabsorbed early on, which varies with technique, aftercare and individual healing. Following instructions, avoiding pressure on the breasts, keeping a stable weight and not smoking all help the fat survive.
It can. Areas of transferred fat occasionally form calcifications or oil cysts that show up on imaging. Radiologists are generally able to distinguish these from concerning findings, but additional views or imaging are sometimes needed. Tell your imaging provider you have had fat transfer, and keep up with the breast screening schedule your physician recommends.
Liposuction is built in, since the fat has to come from somewhere, and many patients choose donor areas they wanted contoured anyway. Some combine fat transfer with a breast lift to restore fullness, or include it in a mommy makeover alongside a tummy tuck. Whether to combine or stage depends on your health, the extent of surgery and the anesthesia approach.
