About the treatment
Dermal fillers are injectable gels placed beneath the skin to restore volume, soften static folds and refine contours. Most are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance the body already contains, while others work by stimulating your own collagen over time. Results from hyaluronic acid fillers are visible right away; collagen-stimulating products build more gradually.
Dr. Khan approaches filler as facial structure rather than line-chasing. She looks at where support has been lost, how light falls across the face and how the areas relate to one another, then places small amounts where they do the most work. The result she aims for is a face that looks rested and balanced, not one that looks filled.
What it addresses
- Flattened or hollow cheeks and midface
- Thin lips, or lips that have lost definition and symmetry
- Deepening smile lines and marionette lines
- A soft or undefined jawline and chin
- Hollow temples
- Under-eye hollows in selected patients
What it doesn't do
- Fillers do not relax the muscles that cause expression lines. Botox addresses those, and the two are often combined.
- They cannot lift significantly loose skin. When laxity is the main issue, a facelift, neck lift or fat grafting may serve you better.
- Results are temporary. How long they last depends on the product, the area and your own metabolism, and maintenance is part of the plan.
