Out-of-Town & Virtual Consultations Coming from further away.

Patients travel to Sugar Land from across Texas, from other states and from outside the country. The process is designed so that you understand your options before you book travel, and so recovery and follow-up are planned, not improvised.

How it works

Four steps, in order.

  1. 01

    Virtual consultation

Where permitted, you meet Dr. Khan by video to discuss goals, history and the options worth considering. You'll learn what is realistic and roughly what the plan might involve before you commit to travel.

  2. 02

    In-person evaluation

Required before any procedure is scheduled. Dr. Khan examines you, confirms candidacy and finalizes the plan, the anesthesia approach and pricing.

  3. 03

    Procedure and early recovery

You stay in the Houston area with a companion for the early recovery period your plan calls for. Established surgical patients have a direct way to reach Dr. Khan after hours.

  4. 04

    Follow-up and travel home

At least one in-person follow-up before you travel. Dr. Khan clears travel timing based on how you are healing, and later check-ins can sometimes be done virtually.

What to plan for

Practical realities.

  • A companion. Someone must drive you after any procedure and should stay with you during early recovery.
  • Time, not just a flight. Recovery takes longer than the procedure. Build your stay around the follow-up schedule Dr. Khan gives you, with room to extend it.
  • Lodging near Sugar Land. Staying close to the office makes follow-up visits and any unexpected check simple. The practice does not arrange lodging.
  • Honest expectations. Travel can add stress to recovery. Dr. Khan will tell you if a procedure's recovery is not well suited to a short trip.
  • Jurisdiction. Virtual care depends on the rules where you are located. If a virtual consultation is not possible, the first visit is in person.

FAQ

Travel questions

Every answer here is general information. Your own plan, risks and recovery are discussed in person at your consultation.

Can my first consultation be virtual?

Often, yes. Virtual consultations are offered for prospective patients outside the Houston area, including outside the United States, subject to the laws that apply where you are and to what Dr. Khan can responsibly assess remotely. The team confirms whether a virtual visit is possible when you request one.

Do I have to come in person before surgery?

Yes. An in-person evaluation is required before any procedure is scheduled. It is the only way Dr. Khan can examine skin quality, tissue and anatomy properly and finalize your plan.

How long should I plan to stay in the Houston area?

That depends on the procedure and your healing, and it is set with your plan rather than guessed in advance. Expect at least one in-person follow-up before you travel home; some procedures need longer. Dr. Khan tells you what she needs to see before clearing you to travel.

Does the practice arrange travel or lodging?

No. The practice does not offer travel or concierge services. The team can suggest what to consider, such as staying within easy reach of the Sugar Land office and having a companion with you, but arrangements are yours to make.

Is flying soon after surgery a problem?

It can be. Travel timing after surgery is a medical decision that depends on the procedure and your recovery, and it is part of the plan Dr. Khan makes with you. Do not book a return flight until that timing is agreed.
