Inner (medial) thigh lift
Addresses loose skin on the inner thigh. The incision typically runs in the groin crease and, when more skin must be removed, can extend down the inner thigh.
Model Body · Skin tightening surgery
When loose thigh skin is the problem, no amount of exercise changes it. A thigh lift removes the excess and tightens what remains, with incisions placed as discreetly as your anatomy allows.
About the procedure
A thigh lift (thighplasty) removes excess skin and some fat from the inner or outer thighs and tightens the underlying tissue so the legs look smoother and feel more comfortable in motion. It is most often chosen after significant weight loss, when the skin has lost the elasticity it needs to shrink back on its own, and sometimes for age-related laxity.
Because the trade-off is a permanent scar for a tighter contour, Dr. Khan spends real time at consultation on where incisions would sit, how much skin can be removed and what the result is likely to look like for your legs specifically.
The Empowered approach
Her planning starts with the scar. She evaluates how much skin can be removed while keeping incision lines under reasonable tension, and places incisions in natural creases and areas that clothing covers wherever your anatomy allows. Layered closure techniques help scars heal as flat, thin lines over time.
For patients who have lost a large amount of weight, she looks at the thighs alongside the abdomen, arms and buttocks, so the plan fits a broader body-contouring sequence rather than treating one area in isolation.
Who it may suit
Candidacy is confirmed at your consultation, after an examination and a review of your medical history.
What to expect
About an hour with Dr. Khan to examine skin quality and laxity, discuss technique and scar placement, and decide whether liposuction or other body-contouring procedures belong in the plan.
Pre-operative instructions, lab work as needed, arranging help at home for the first days, and planning time off work.
Excess skin is removed, remaining tissue is tightened and incisions are closed in layers. Dr. Khan reviews the anesthesia plan with you before the procedure.
A compression garment supports the thighs while swelling settles. You will have scheduled follow-up visits, and established surgical patients have a direct way to reach Dr. Khan after hours.
Recovery
Expect several weeks of reduced activity. Walking short distances early is encouraged, but lifting, stretching the thigh area and strenuous exercise are limited until Dr. Khan clears them, usually in stages over the first couple of months. Many patients return to desk work in about two to three weeks.
Scars look red and raised at first and typically fade over twelve to eighteen months. Swelling resolves gradually, so the final contour takes months to settle.
Risks and limitations
Every surgery carries risk. These are the ones most relevant to this procedure; Dr. Khan reviews your personal risk profile and the alternatives with you before anything is scheduled.

FAQ
Every answer here is general information. Your own plan, risks and recovery are discussed in person at your consultation.
It depends on the technique. Inner thigh lifts usually leave a scar in the groin crease, sometimes extending down the inner thigh when a lot of skin is removed. Outer thigh lifts leave scars along the hip and buttock area. Scars are permanent, but they are placed to be covered by underwear and swimwear and they fade significantly over the first year to eighteen months.
Plan on a few weeks of limited activity, with desk work often possible after about two to three weeks and a gradual return to exercise over the following months as Dr. Khan clears each step. Compression garments and avoiding activities that stretch the thigh area protect the incisions while they heal.
If you are still losing weight, it is usually better to wait until your weight has been stable for six to twelve months. Further weight loss after surgery can bring back some laxity. Dr. Khan will talk through timing with you.
Often. Liposuction is commonly added to refine the contour, and patients who have lost a lot of weight sometimes plan a thigh lift alongside a tummy tuck, arm lift or lower body lift. Whether to combine or stage procedures depends on your health, the extent of surgery and recovery considerations.
For mild laxity, energy-based skin tightening such as Renuvion or ThermiSmooth may help, and liposuction alone can address fullness. None of these remove a significant amount of loose skin. Dr. Khan will tell you candidly which option fits what she sees.
